Decompressing In North Carolina With Fashion Stylist, Ryan Young

Window, Middle or Aisle? Window all the way.

Where’s the last place you traveled? Asheville, North Carolina. Went on a nice family trip to visit my dad and brother in the mountains. Jumped off some waterfalls and swam in some streams.

What does travel mean to you? I’m not fully able to decompress until I’m in a new place--removed from all of NYC’s buzzy energy. So travel essentially means a proper escape from work and everyday life. Also, no matter where I’m going I still get excited when I board a place. It’s a thrill that has yet to get old.

What’s your idea of a perfect vacation? It’s a toss up between exploring a new city and plopping down on a beach. I have an upcoming holiday to Italy that might be the perfect balance of the two… talk to me in September.

What do you most value in your friendships? Honesty. I think you’re a true friend when you can see your friend in all of their shortcomings and beauty. And know when to push or just listen.

What (or Who) currently inspires you? In the immediate? I just finished Questlove’s Summer of Soul doc and it hit me DEEP in so many ways. We don’t have musicians like that anymore--I rarely get chills like that, but to see Mavis Staples sing live and still having such grit to her voice at such a young age...It’s just really an experience. Also, the vibrancy and quality of the film and wardrobe! Highly recommend.

What is your self-care routine when traveling? HYDRATION! I started traveling with my favorite water bottle/ pacifier because it’s literally the best way to maintain any routine.

The holy grail of your beauty routine? SPF and Serum? Can I have two?

What are you manifesting in your life right now? I think I’m always manifesting abundance--for myself and my loved ones. There’s really nothing greater than when all my people are succeeding at the same time. But I think it’s important to take time and recognize it.
